Veteran television musical director Rickey Minor, currently head of the band serving Fox megahit series “American Idol,” will be taking over for Kevin Eubanks as director of the band for NBC’s “Tonight Show” with Jay Leno. Eubanks’ exit and the end of the current Idol season happen to coincide very conveniently.
Friday, May 28 will be Eubank’s last appearance on the show, which is just about when Idol wraps up. Associated Press reports that Minor will debut with “Tonight Show” Monday, 6/7/10.
Minor’s extensive career includes providing musical direction for the Super Bowl and the Grammy Awards.
