Top markets for peddling skin care products

Some products sell better in one place than another – Los Angeles and Miami, for example, are not prime locations to sell snow shoes. But they do rank #1 and #2 for another class of products.


They are at the top of a list where lots of sun combine with a strong acknowledgement of fashion sense and good looks – and the end result is a heightened need for skin care products. According to a study from The Patient’s Guide, they among the leading locations where both skin beauty and care items are hot commodities for a population that appears older than it really is.

“Up to 90 percent of the visible skin changes commonly attributed to aging are caused by the sun,” says dermatology/laser surgery expert Dr. Eric Bernstein. “Depending on where you live, you may need to adjust your skin care regimen’s level of daily sunscreen and increase treatments such as non-ablative laser skin rejuvenation or citric acid peels to treat the five signs of skin aging.”

The Patients Guide wrote, “People who live or work near to the equator, at higher altitudes, and in locations with many dry, sunny days have a higher risk of UV exposure, skin aging and even cancer. Listed below are the top ten U.S. cities whose residents struggle with physical signs of premature aging including sun spots and wrinkles.”
