An American Public Media (APM) executive who has risen through the ranks at the Minneapolis-based noncommercial programming entity since joining in August 2011 has just been appointed COO of another leading producer of public radio shows.

Shona Koester is now at PRX — the distribution marketplace for such acclaimed shows as This American Life, The Moth Radio Hour and Reveal.

At APM, Koester was most recently VP/Distribution & Content Partnerships. She has also been interim head and Senior Manager of International and Affiliate Content Partnerships, and Director of National Distribution at APM.

“Shona will be a wonderful addition to PRX as we continue to grow and adapt to a changing media landscape,” said PRX CEO Kerri Hoffman. “She has proven experience in leading high-profile projects and cultivating strong teams. Her experience and commitment to public media will help PRX serve new audiences.”

Prior to APM, Koester worked at Chicago Public Media, where she led strategic initiatives as a Project Management and Strategic Initiative Consultant.

“I have enjoyed my experiences and am proud of the work we’ve done at APM. At the same time, I’m excited to take on this role and for the future of PRX,” Koester said. “It’s a company I’ve long admired and look forward to being a part of its growth and future.”
