A worker with Ultimate Tower Service fell 500 feet to his death from a tower in Newton, MA on 10/12. The tower, owned by American Tower, houses Boston University’s WBUR-FM, Clear Channel’s Jam’n 94.5 WJMN-FM; CBS Radio’s The Sports Hub WBZ-FM and Classic Hits WODS-FM, and two small TV stations. A veteran crew of three men, working for Ultimate Tower, was doing routine maintenance work on the tower when one of them fell. American Tower has suspended work at the site. No cause for the fall has yet been determined.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of one of our contractors. Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and co-workers during this difficult time. We are working closely with the relevant authorities and cooperating fully with all inquiries into the cause of this tragic accident,” said American Tower in a statement.
