An owner and operator of broadcast stations in the states of Washington and Montana has selected TownNews to provide content for forthcoming digital efforts set for launch in the near future.

Stations owned by The Cowles Company will benefit from “a full suite of integrated tools and services, including digital content management, content distribution, email marketing, and digital advertising operations,” TownNews says.

“You look for partners who understand your challenges,” said Neal Boling, station manager at KHQ-TV in Spokane. “TownNews provides the Cowles Company a digital platform that fits hand-in-glove with our needs. We truly feel like we’re in this together.”

KHQ joins KULR-TV in Billings, Mont.; “NBC Right Now” in Tri-Cities/Yakima, Wash.; and “ABC/Fox Montana” in the cities of Missoula, Great Falls, Helena, Butte and Bozeman as Cowles stations that plan to launch with TownNews by the end of autumn.

“We look forward to collaborating with Neal and his team at Cowles,” TownNews CEO Brad Ward said. “They have an outstanding broadcast history and clearly are looking to push the envelope of local media.”

According to Boling, it is the first time in the company’s history that it has changed website vendors.

The Cowles Family launched KHQ-TV in 1952. Since then, its broadcasting division has expanded to include NBC, ABC, and FOX affiliates in Washington and Montana. Cowles also owns The Spokesman-Review, the major daily newspaper serving Eastern Washington.
