When Townsquare Media completes its acquisition of 26 radio stations from Double O Broadcasting, it will be active in some 40 markets with 191 total stations. The current deal will add five markets in three states to the Townsquare portfolio.
“This transaction represents a continuation of Townsquare Media’s strategy of pursing market leading media properties in small and mid-sized markets,” commented Townsquare Media Chairman and CEO Steven Price. “We are excited to continue to expand our business by adding new advertisers, a broader audience, premier brands and strong in-market teams.”
The price of the transaction was not released, but Pilot Group, a Double O equity backer, will emerge with an interest in Townsquare. A prominent name associated with Pilot Group is none other than Bob Pittman.
In addition to radio interests, Townsquare has holdings in musical and non-musical events and various websites.
The stations are located in McAllen TX, San Angelo TX, a large unrated portion of New York roughly between Albany and Binghamton, the Mississippi River towns of Hannibal MO and Quincy IL, and in the Sedalia-Knob Noster area in west-central Missouri.
