Daystar Television Network is the proud new owner of WMAK-TV Knoxville. The Channel 7 facility has been digital-only since it signed on in 2004.
Daystar closed last week on the $2 million purchase announced in April. Kalil & Co. brokered the deal to expand the footprint of the Religious broadcaster, which already owns more than 100 stations. The seller is Knoxville Channel 7 LLC, headed by John Engelbrecht, whose South Central Communications owns a number of other radio and TV stations.
While the $2 million price tag is pretty good in the current economic climate, a previous deal for $5.5 million announced in 2008 failed to get to the closing table.
