Tribune Interactive announced the launch of “The Syndicate,” a new online multimedia content marketplace bringing the latest news, lifestyle stories and sports reports to visitors of Tribune’s television and newspaper websites.

In addition to reading the best coverage of the day’s events, website visitors now can learn about the topics they care about—news, business and entertainment—through interactive elements such as videos, photos, graphics, trivia and quizzes. The content, created 24/7, is culled from Tribune’s 23 television stations and newspaper websites, 17 TV stations owned by Local TV, LLC, and various outside vendors.

“Our mission is to super-serve our website visitors around the clock,” said Andy Friedman, vice president/interactive content for Tribune Interactive. “We know our visitors want information that they can read and view. With The Syndicate, we keep our visitors current on what matters to them, complementing what they read with what they watch and vice versa.”

Website visitors can enjoy multimedia content related to current issues, such as health, green living, cars, real estate and careers. Videos relating to special events, such as holidays, also will be featured. Local markets can customize the material to better serve their visitors.

Friedman manages The Syndicate. Robert LaFrentz, director/content, runs the 24/7 news operation, while Brandi Larsen, director/content, oversees the feature and lifestyle components.
