Triplett Takes On Tampa Bay For Beasley

In October, Beasley Media Group announced “a rare opportunity” that had become available to one lucky radio professional. It sought a top talent, “available to join a major market radio team as a VP.”

Three months later, Beasley is welcoming its new VP/Market Manager for its Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater station group.

The company didn’t have to go far to find the individual charged with leading the cluster: it handed the job to its interim market manager and Director of Sales, Steve Triplett.

Triplett is known for his previous roles as founder and President of Contact Media Inc., a Tampa-based marketing firm providing media planning and demand generation advertising services to businesses throughout the Southeast.

He was also VP/Sales for digital marketing agency Triad Retail Media, providing media programs for such ecommerce retailers as Walmart, Ebay and Dell.

Triplett formally succeeds 35-year radio industry veteran George Toulas, who had been appointed VP/Market Manager in December 2017.

Toulas was brought on to replace Kent Dunn, who relocated from Beasley’s Augusta, Ga., station group in November 2014 to become VP/Market Manager of the company’s newly obtained Tampa-St. Petersburg station group, and returned to Georgia.

Triplett will oversee Tampa Bay stations Financial Talk WHFS-AM 1010, former “Modern Adult Contemporary” and now Classic Rock WPBB-FM 98.7 “The Shark”, Rhythmic Top 40 WLLD-FM 94.1, Country WQYK-FM 99.5, Classic Hits WRBQ-FM 104.7 “Q105” and Latin Tropical WYUU-FM “Maxima 92.5.

Triplett spent the first decade of his career in various account management roles for Jacor Communications, Clear Channel Radio from August 1996-December 1997, and Cox Radio, where he was a Senior Account Manager from August 1999-November 2006. He joined Beasley in February 2015.

He is past member of the 2017 Radio Show Steering Committee.

“Over the past four years, Beasley Media Group has created something truly special in Tampa,” said Triplett. “We have a team of the finest media professionals in the industry and it’s an honor to continuing serving them in this new capacity.”

EVP/COO Brian Beasley added, “We look forward to Steve’s experience and insight … His passion, track record and leadership skills, made him the perfect choice to lead our team in Tampa.”

  1. When Steve’s promotion was announced in a full station meeting, he got an extended standing ovation. You don’t see that often.
