Tuesday win for NBC's 'America's Got Talent'

From 8-9 p.m. ET, “America’s Got Talent” (3.4/11 in 18-49, 12.2 million viewers overall) won its time period among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, total viewers and all other key demographics.  From its first half-hour to its second, “America’s Got Talent” grew by 16 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.7 from a 3.2) and by 13 percent or 1.4 million persons in total viewers (12.9 million vs. 11.5 million).
 
Versus NBC’s average in this time period last summer, “America’s Got Talent” was up 127 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 3.4 rating vs. a 1.5, “live plus same day,” non-sports) and up 135 percent in total viewers (12.206 million vs. 5.198 million).  Versus the prior week, the 8 p.m. edition of “America’s Got Talent” is currently up in 18-49 rating by 3 percent (3.4 vs. 3.3).  Note that in preliminary fast-affiliate ratings last week, the 8 p.m. “Talent” was scored at a 3.2 rating in 18-49 and 12.0 million viewers overall.


From 9-11 p.m. ET, another original telecast of “America’s Got Talent” (4.5/12 in adults 18-49, 15.5 million viewers overall) scored the show’s second highest rating ever in 18-49, behind only the series debut five years ago (4.6 on Wednesday, June 21, 2006).  In total viewers, it’s the third biggest “Talent” overall audience to date behind only the 2010 and 2009 finales, making it the biggest audience ever excluding finales. 
 
The 9-11 p.m. “Talent” earned the #1 rating of the night in adults 18-49 and total viewers and won its two-hour time period among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in every key ratings category — adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers.

In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, “America’s Got Talent” delivered a 194 percent margin of victory in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (with a 5.3 rating vs. a 1.8 for CBS’s second-place “48 Hours”).  “Talent” beat the ABC and CBS competition combined in the 10:30 half-hour in all key ratings categories.
 
NBC dominated all six primetime half-hours in 18-49 and total viewers.  NBC ranked #1 for the night in all key ratings categories, including adults 18-34, adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers.  It’s NBC’s fourth consecutive Tuesday win in 18-49 and sixth in a row in total viewers.
