New York police are investigating the weekend shooting death of DJ Megatron, whose real name was Corey McGriff. He was shot near his brother’s Staten Island home around 2:00 am Sunday (3/27).
“The BET Networks Family is saddened by the news of the untimely loss of our friend and colleague, Corey ‘Megatron’ McGriff. Megatron has been a part of our music countdown show ‘106 & PARK’ since 2006 – working mainly with our audience department as a behind-the-scenes hype man. Megatron also did brief on-air work for the network and website, Bet.com. We extend our deepest condolence to his family. He will truly be missed,” said a statement from Viacom’s BET Network.
Megatron had previously worked on-air at Emmis-owned WQHT-FM “Hot 97” New York.
