TV audience spiked for House bailout vote

Cable news channels drew lots of extra viewers on Monday for the US House of Representatives vote on a proposed $700 billion bailout for Wall Street financial firms. The Nielsen Company combined the viewership of CNN, CNBC, Fox News Channel and MSNBC and found that the audience shot up as much as 103% from normal for the historic vote. The measure was defeated 228-205.


Nielsen has charted the entire viewing day to show the spike.
