TV5MONDE USA, America’s only 24/7 French language channel, will air live coverage of the Presidential election from New York City, for the first time in the channel’s history.  Coverage of the 2008 election results will begin at 5:00PM/ET and go until 11:00PM/ET on Tuesday, 11/4.

TV5MONDE will mobilize its entire editorial team to follow and analyze the results of the polls, LIVE as they come in.  In total, the channel will air LIVE broadcasts from three different locations: New York, Paris, and Dakar.  TV5MONDE will offer 6 hours of live coverage thereby creating an all-inclusive panorama with numerous analyses and viewpoints from all angles.

The night’s LIVE coverage will include interviews with a variety of celebrity Francophile guests.  Based in New York for the evening, Philippe Dessaint will be hosting the night’s discussions which will also feature direct reports from both Barack Obama’s and John McCain’s campaign headquarters.  Also, throughout the evening, French journalist, Denise Epoté will comment on the reactions of personalities from the African continent, relayed from Dakar through multiple news broadcasts and interviews.  David Delos will also be contributing to the evening’s program with regular summaries of results as voting the proceeds.

In Paris, TV5MONDE will be setting up a main studio at Cinéaqua, in the Trocadéro Gardens (in partnership with France24 and RFI). Here, in the presence of the largest gathering of Republicans and Democrats outside the United States, Xavier Lambrechts and Estelle Martin will be receiving numerous personalities (politicians, researchers, economists, sociologists, historians, etc.) and inviting them to comment "off the cuff" on trends in the election results.

The TV5MONDE website will also be airing live coverage as well as offering supplemental reports gathered from reactions of Democrats and Republicans across the world. Internet users will also be able to send messages of support to their candidate and react directly to the results. This feature will be the final component of mini-site dedicated to the American elections.  For the last month, this site focused on everything having to do with the Presidential elections including broadcasting all debates between the candidates.
