Broadcast delivered 96 of top 100 programs last week

In the first week of the broadcast season, which ended Sunday, Sept. 25, broadcast delivered 96 of the top 100 primetime programs in A18-49 and A25-54, and 95 out of 100 in households. Broadcast stations also outdrew local wired-cable MSOs in all seven LPM markets last week.

Based on household ratings, "Desperate Housewives" on ABC took first place for the week, with a 17.34 HH rating, "CSI" was a close second with a 17.27 rating, and "Lost" was third with a 13.83 HH rating. Ad-supported subscription TV's highest ranking program was a match-up between The New York Giants and San Diego Chargers on ESPN's "NFL Regular Season," which delivered a 6.53 HH rating and finished in 34th place.

TVB has adopted the term "subscription TV" for the video formerly known as cable programming. Click here to read more about the thinking behind this change. It will use the term "local wired-cable" in referring to MSOs.
