TV’s Major Network Groups See Decline In Reach

Drawing from Nielsen data for the month of December 2017, Pivotal Research Group has released a review of audience reach trends for key networks and TV in its entirety. The company concluded that traditional TV reached 98% of all people aged 2-99 and 97% of all people aged 18-34 for more than one minute during the period of analysis. CBS, ABC, NBC, and Fox reached 69-70% of the population during December, followed by the CW at approximately 44% and several other networks between 38-40% (ESPN, AMC, TNT, Lifetime, and Freeform). Among networks owned by the largest media owners, reach against all people typically declined by -1.7% for the median network.
