Twentieth Century Fox, Netflix add to distribution deal

This new multi-year agreement allows Netflix to provide its members with instant access to additional television series including the first season of “Glee” (FOX) and the first two seasons of “Sons of Anarchy” (FX) beginning 4/1, with additional seasons being added annually. The non-exclusive digital distribution agreement also adds additional titles from Fox’s movie library.

Other show library series added include “Ally McBeal” and “The Wonder Years.” The additional library movies will be available to Netflix after their premium pay television license periods expire.

Other streaming content available before this added deal include “Lie to Me,” “24,” “Prison Break,” “Arrested Development,” “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” “X-Files” and more.

RBR-TVBR observation: Netflix continues its fast foray into television content. Just a couple of weeks ago, the company entered the arena of premium television, licensing the exclusive rights to “House of Cards.” Since Netflix product is now available on everything from DVDs to gaming consoles, it will continue to command more and more content licensing deals at the negotiating table—just from the sheer size of its customer base.
