Two AP journalists injured in Afghanistan

The Associated Press reports that two of its journalists embedded with US troops in Afghanistan were wounded Tuesday in a roadside bombing. Photographer Emilio Morenatti lost a foot and AP Television News videographer Andi Jatmiko suffered leg injuries and two broken ribs.


The two were traveling with the military when their vehicle was struck by the bomb. The journalists were taken to a military hospital in Kandahar where Morenatti underwent surgery and had his badly damaged foot removed.

Morenatti, age 40, is an award-winning photographer based in Islamabad. He is a native of Spain.

Jatmiko, age 44, is an Indonesian who has reported for the AP throughout Asia.
