Univision gets ready to dance

The Univision Network announced that rock star Alejandra Guzmán, irreverent TV host Horacio Villalobos and Broadway star Bianca Marroquín will make up the expert panel of judges on its upcoming star-studded reality competition, “¡Mira Quién Baila!” (Look Who’s Dancing!). In this show, though, the celebs don’t get pros as partners. They’ll have to hit the dance floor paired with amateurs.

Each of the ten celebrities and their amateur dance partners will have to work hard to impress the tough critics and be selected as the winning couple each week. The remaining celebrities will need to win viewer’s hearts and votes to remain in the competition. “¡Mira Quién Baila!” will air weekly on Sundays at 8:00 pm ET/PT on Univision, beginning on Sunday, September 12, 2010.

About the judges:

Latin Grammy and Premio Lo Nuestro award-winning artist Alejandra Guzmán is one of Latin America’s most popular rockers. Known for her passionate and irreverent style, Guzmán has released 13 albums and produced many chart-topping hits including “Eternamente Bella” and “Mírala, Míralo” among others. Also known as the “Queen of Rock,” Guzmán has made headlines for her energetic persona and wide display of sensual and captivating moves in her music videos as well as live performances. Now she arrives on Univision’s “¡Mira Quién Baila!” to offer the insight she has gained as a performer and provide valuable feedback to her fellow celebrities as they compete for charity.
Horacio Villalobos is a popular TV and radio host, comedian, and actor in Mexico. Throughout the years he has gained wide acclaim for his bold and brutally honest style as host of some of his native country’s most controversial programs. His experience also includes theatre, participating in multiple plays throughout his career. As one of the expert judges in “¡Mira Quién Baila!” Villalobos will not only offer his candid assessment of each contestant’s performance, but he will also keep the competition alive with his blunt feedback and irreverent personality.
Bianca Marroquín, a renowned Mexican actress and professional dancer, was one of the youngest actresses to play Roxie Hart in a Broadway production of “Chicago.” The first Mexican to ever receive the prestigious Helen Hayes Award for excellence in professional theatre,  throughout her career she has participated in multiple musicals, most recently the Broadway hit and Tony Award winning musical “In the Heights.” In her native Mexico she has been part such musicals as “Beauty and the Beast,” “Rent,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” and “The Vagina Monologues,” among others. Making use of her expertise as one of her country’s most prestigious dance professionals, Marroquín rounds out the panel of judges for “¡Mira Quién Baila!”

Hosted by the charismatic Javier Poza and beautiful Venezuelan actress Chiquinquirá Delgado, the ten celebrities who will compete in “¡Mira Quién Baila!” are boxing champion Héctor “El Macho” Camacho, legendary singer/actress Rosa Gloria Chagoyán (“Lola, La Trailera”), stunning actress Scarlet Ortiz, multiplatinum recording artist Jon Secada, up-and-coming actor Vahdir Derbez, Univision weather anchor/personality Jackie Guerrido, regional Mexican music star Diana Reyes, actor/model Marcelo Buquet, banda music heartthrob Rogelio Martínez, and Latin bombshell Niurka Marcos.
They will showcase their best moves in front of a live audience every week, dancing to a variety of different rhythms (Tango, Salsa, Merengue, Cha-Cha-Cha and Rock n’ Roll, among others), in order to demonstrate that they not only have the talent to rule the dance floor, but also the charisma to win viewers’ hearts.
