Univision Radio makes cuts

Recently-appointed Univision Radio President Jose Valle (former Univision Radio LA VP/GM) has been charged with streamlining his division: A source at Univision confirms the company streamlined operations at Univision Radio on 4/6. Another industry source said some 25 staffers were let go “with more to come.”

They include Univision Radio’s internal research company SIP EVP David Gleason and SVP Ismar Santa Cruz; Houston Operations Manager Arnulfo Ramirez; KLVE-FM LA PD Fernando Perez and Pete Manriquez, VP format manager for the Kalle format.

The company also reportedly let go the Operations Manager and PD for its “Recuerdo” format.

RBR-TVBR observation: The streamlining was made just days after Univision CEO Joe UVA resigned (4/2). His resignation, and now much of this streamlining may, have been driven from Televisa now having a big stake in the company. Emilio Azcárraga Jean runs Televisa and is likely looking to make his mark with Univision–before and after a new CEO is appointed.
