Univision: Ratings Are Up, But The Q4 Net Loss Is Big

0

MIAMI — If one were to look at the overnight TV ratings from Nielsen each morning, they’d see a pretty convincing story: Univision is, without a doubt, widening the gap between it and Comcast-owned rival Telemundo. Overall, Univision is attracting 1.1 million viewers between 8pm and 11pm, compared to 820,000 for Telemundo.

The strong TV ratings aren’t translating to profits, however. That’s due, in part, to an ongoing carriage dispute with DISH Network that led Univision to swing to a net loss of $40.2 million in Q4.
