Univision sheds a Texas FM

SoldKPTY-FM serves the Beaumont-Port Arthur Nielsen Audio market, but it will soon be doing so for a new owner. According to brokerage Kalil and Co., it’s being sold by a Univision subsidiary.

Currently licensed to Tichenor License Corporation (there’s a radio group blast from the past), it is on its way to Excel Media LLC, headed by John Walton. It will be Walton’s only broadcast property.

The station is licensed to Winnie and serves Beaumont-Port Arthur, which is to the east and in the shadow of Houston.

KPTY-FM is a Class C2 on 105.3 MHz with 50 kW @ 492’.

The value of the deal was not disclosed. Kalil represented Univision and Sandi Bergman of MyMediaBroker.com represented the buyer.
