Univision unveils 2009-2010 season

Univision announced its programming line-up for Univision, TeleFutura and Galavision in the 2009-2010 season. The new programming slate includes the exclusive Spanish-language broadcast of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa  in HD, novelas and new reality shows.

World Cup
In June & July 2010, Univision presents the greatest sporting event in the world, the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. And for the first time ever, this exclusive Spanish-language broadcast on the Univision networks will air in high definition. Univision’s critically acclaimed coverage will include fifty-six games live, with the remaining eight on sister network TeleFutura. Both TeleFutura and Galavision will rebroadcast fifty-two games. With entertainment and news programming also producing special World Cup editions, over 400+ hours of coverage will transform the Univision networks into the World Cup destination for millions of passionate fans. “Atrevete a Sonar” (Dare to Dream). A modern-day ugly duckling story – Patricia, a.k.a. “Patito” (Duckling), is a sweet girl with a good heart whose health issues send her to a children’s hospital. Her two fondest dreams are to meet her father and to become a famous singer. In a strange chain of events “Patito’s” doctor turns out to be her father, and she finds her dreams are within reach. “Un Gancho al Corazon” (A Blow to the Heart). From the producer of “Al Diablo con los Guapos,” Angelli Nesma Medina, comes an unexpected story about an ex-stock-car champion racer meeting a beautiful female boxer. What follows is a delightful comedy of errors, full of adventures and entanglements, seasoned with generous helpings of tears, laughter and love. “En Nombre del Amor” (In the Name of Love). Producer Carlos Moreno (Bajo la Misma Piel), brings his latest classic delving into the depths of everyday lives, to lay bare secret emotions. A family drama of two sisters, Macarena and Carlota, who fall in love with the same man and pay dearly for their love. This novela reunites the cast from the very successful “Al Diablo con los Guapos” — Allison Lozz, Altair Jarabo, Laura Flores, as well as Victoria Ruffo (La Madrastra), Arturo Peniche (Alborada), Leticia Calderon (Laberintos de Pasion), and newcomer Sebastian Zurita. “Sortilegio” (Lucky Spell). From one of Mexico’s most successful producers, Carla Estrada (Pasion, Amor Real, Alborada), comes her next big hit. The story is centered around a woman who falls in love with and marries a man with a dual identity. When she discovers the man’s real identity, the plot takes an unexpected twist. “Verano de Amor” (Summer of Love). Producer Pedro Damian (Rebelde) is back with another youth hit — this time a summer story about a group of young friends who grow up together in the beautiful seaside town. It will be a summer of change, of tears and disappointment, but also of dreams, new life, new friends, and new loves. Reality

“Viva El Sueno” (Live the Dream). An original reality TV format, this 13- week competition showcases talented, but struggling professional Hispanic performers who need just one big break to make it to stardom. This highly anticipated mega event is now in production and will air live across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, with a panel of renowned music-industry experts. In the end, viewers will vote and ultimately choose Latin music’s next superstar. (Sunday, Primetime)

“Hazme Reir y Seras Millionario” (Make Me Laugh And Become A Millionaire). From the creators of Bailando and Cantando por un Sueno comes a new comedy- based reality show. Viewers will delight in the fun as teams of three — a contestant, a comedian, and a celebrity — work to make the audience and the judges laugh. Hosts, Marco Antonio Regil (100 Mexicanos Dijeron) and Angelica Vale (La Fea Mas Bella), join in the antics giving challenges of improv, parody, sketches and imitations for the teams to present to a ruthless panel of judges. In the 2009/2010 season, TeleFutura is excited to add the following titles to what is already the largest Hollywood film library on Spanish-language television. Starting with “El Cantante” where real life couple Marc Anthony and his multi-talented wife, Jennifer Lopez, who also served as an executive producer for the film, star in this biopic based on the true story of the rise and fall of salsa singer, Hector Lavoe. TeleFutura will feed the appetite of action/adventure fans with many new titles this season including “Snakes on a Plane” (Samuel L. Jackson), “I, Robot” (Will Smith), “A Man Apart” (Vin Diesel), “Daredevil” (Ben Affleck), “Rush Hour 3” (Chris Tucker, Jackie Chan), “X2: X-Men United” (Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart) and “Transporter” (Jason Statham).
