Univision’s Double Ds: Deleverage and Decrease

BOCA RATON, FLA. — For Univision Communications CEO Vince Sadusky, touting audience estimates that put Univision on top as “the No. 1 U.S. Hispanic network for the 27th consecutive time” was a point made before any other in announcing the multimedia company’s second quarter results.


If only ratings points directly correlated to revenue. Univision and broadcast network sibling UniMás may be “the only broadcast networks to grow viewership from a year ago,” but their parent company saw its net revenue and net income shrink as direct operating expenses grew.
