After a decade in the Big Easy, Mr. Claus is calling it a day.

Don’t worry, there are no sleigh bells involved.

Chris Claus is retiring after a decade as VP/GM of Entercom/New Orleans.

His final day on the job is set for Aug. 31.

Claus is a 35-year broadcasting industry veteran who joined Entercom in 2007 for a role that today has him overseeing News/Talk WWL-AM 870 (and its FM translator), Urban AC WWWL-FM “Hot 103.7,” AC WLMG-FM “Magic 101.9,” Classic Rock WKBU-FM 95.7 “The Bayou,” and CHR/Pop WEZB-FM “B97.”

Entercom President/Sales Deborah Kane commented on Claus’ retirement by noting, “Chris has provided tremendous leadership to Entercom/New Orleans and to the good people of Louisiana over the past 10 years. Chris championed New Orleans during the critical post-Katrina period, during Hurricane Gustav in 2008, and throughout the Deepwater Horizon/BP Oil spill in 2010. Chris’ engaging style of management, his unwavering professionalism and his heart has made an indelible imprint on Entercom employees and the community at large.”

Entercom Regional President Michael Doyle added, “For nearly a decade, Chris has been a leader for both our company, and for the community in New Orleans. He has been involved with our listeners, our customers and many causes that represent the best of who we want to be as broadcasters. His leadership and his personal integrity will be missed.”

In a personal statement, Claus said, “I am grateful for these 10 years in the New Orleans cluster working with exceptional colleagues and being a part of this great community. I had a wonderful experience and now I look forward to spending time with my family.”

Prior to joining Entercom, Claus served as VP/GM for the former KJQY-FM in San Diego, as VP/GM of KFWB-AM and KTWV-FM “94.7 The Wave” in Los Angeles, and for WPHT-AM & WOGL-FM in Philadelphia.
