The service sector represents about 80% of the US economy, so a September rise in the Institute for Supply Management’s service sector index gave a boost to Wall Street, with financial stocks leading the rally. Broadcasting stocks posted big gains. The Dow Industrials rose 112 points, or 1.2%, to 9,600.
The RBR Radio Index rose 18.361, or 15.2%, to 139.345.
The TVBR Television Index rose 4.405, or 4.1%, to 111.223.
