Another chapter is being added to the marathon station sell-off of stations by Christopher F. Devine. This time, his Marathon Media Group is spinning KPLD-FM Kanab UT to Canyon Media Group.
Canyon, owned by Kent and Patricia Frandsen, will pay $400K cash for the station, with $20K being plunked down into an escrow account and the rest due at closing.
Located in the extreme southwest corner of the state, it will join a cluster with KZHK-FM, KONY-FM and KZNU-AM. KPLD-FM uses a Hot AC format over 101.1 MHz. The three St. George stations use Classic Rock, Country and News-Talk respectively.
RBR/TVBR observation: Devine, who has been cashing in licenses, has done a lot of very small deals for CPs won in the last few auctions, usually under licensee name College Creek Media. This is one of the more substantial transactions he’s pulled off in recent months.
