After 43 years of working in, owning and running radio stations and radio broadcasting companies, the President/COO of Hubbard Radio will be retiring at the end of 2019.

In an internal company announcement made by Hubbard Radio Chair Ginny Morris on Monday, it was revealed that Drew Horowitz will be saying goodbye to the industry in six months.

Horowitz has been a part of the Hubbard Radio family since 2011, rising to his current role in July 2014 following the departure of the late Bruce Reese.

Before joining Hubbard Radio some eight years ago, Horowitz was the EVP/COO of Bonneville International, where his tenure began in 1992. His prior experience also includes leadership positions with Lakeshore Communications in Chicago, operator of WUSN-FM and the former WFYR-FM.

Hubbard in April 2011 acquired Bonneville’s station in Chicago, Cincinnati, St. Louis and Washington, D.C., for $505 million.

“Since that time, Drew has been instrumental in helping us further grow the company as we added clusters in Phoenix and Seattle, bolstered our cluster in St. Louis and most recently, acquired our operations in West Palm Beach,” Morris said. “Like me, I know that each of you has appreciated working with and getting to know Drew both professionally and personally. And… I absolutely know that each of us has learned a great deal from Drew and not just about radio, business and leadership. I know that Drew has touched and helped many of us personally as well as professionally.”

She called Horowitz “a wise and generous leader,” and called it an honor to work alongside him.

“We will be celebrating Drew in the coming months and we will be in ‘business as usual’ mode until further notice,” she added.
