October is designated as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and W Radio 690 AM in SoCal is committed to promoting awareness among its audience. The station’s programs this month include interviews with various cancer survivors who will share their experiences with listeners and talks with experts like Esther McDowell – spokesperson for the Office of Women’s Health – who will be speaking about their free mammograms program for Hispanic women.
One of the key elements in our campaign is the health topic show “Cita con el Doctor”, hosted by Dr. Elmer Huerta, who was the first ever Latino President of the American Cancer Association. In this show, Dr. Huerta will be continuously referring to this condition.
The station will also support a number of events related to the cause, such as the one organized by the Mexican Consulate for October 24th at the Placita Olvera from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. It is a health fair that will provide free mammograms and information on health related issues.
