Wait is over for Waitt/NRG cluster

Over four years after Norman Waitt and Mary Quass merged their groups into NRG Media, the lagging superduopoly cluster in Omaha NE-Council Bluffs IA is heading into the fold. NRG has been LMAing it all this time.

Mary Quass is the top day-to-day executive running the group.

The stations include an expanded AM band pair that is still up and running thanks to an FCC waiver – they count as one station for cap purposes, so this is legally a three-AM, four FM cluster which in fact has four stations operating in each service.

Included in the cluster are KKAR-AM Omaha; the EB pair, KOIL-AM & KOZN-AM of Bellevue NE; KMMQ-AM & KOPW-FM Plattsmouth NE; KBLR-FM Blair NE; KLOO-FM Lincoln NE; and KQKQ-FM Council Bluffs IA.

KLOO-FM also is considered home to Lincoln, where it is part of yet another superduopoly cluster, joining KLIN-AM, KBBK-FM, KFGE-FM & KLNC-FM.
