Washington moves to Wilmington

At least certain quarters of the inside-the-Beltway crowd will be down in Wilmington for the national test case on the DTV conversion. The FCC, the NTIA and the NAB will all be well-represented, along with locals from city hall and the broadcast community. Long gone, thankfully, will be that representative from the Caribbean known as Hanna, although we’ll have to see about any of Hanna’s lingering aftereffects.

A press conference convenes Monday morning at 10:30 AM. at Thalian Hall in Wilmington,  just prior to the high noon showdown in which digital will take over and analog will bid a conditional adieu to the market.

On hand will be FCC Chairman Kevin J. Martin and Commissioner Michael J. Copps; NTIA Acting Assistant Secretary Meredith Baker; Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo; NAB President and CEO David Rehr; and Vice President & General Manager of Raycom’s WECT (NBC) Gary McNair.
