Watts up, Doc? AM swap in Fresno

0

John and Katrina Ostlund are trading Fresno AM stations with Arthur and Yvonne Liu, and will also kick in a significant amount of cash. In exchange, they’ll command significantly greater audio firepower – 45 kw worth during daytime hours.

There will be an even bigger 49 kw boost at night.

The blowtorch station is 940 kHz KWRU, coming from the Liu’s Multicultural Radio Broadcasting. It fires out 50 kw worth of sound off of a directional array. The Ostlunds will send their 1300 kHz KYNO to Multicultural, along with its more modest 5 kw-D, 1 kw-N license. It is directional at night.

The Ostlunds will also kick in $2M cash to get the signal upgrade.

Both parties will take their call letters and formats to their new facilities, with a contract provision to make the call changes official on closing day.

Multicultural is swapping its only station in the market. The Ostlunds also own and operate KJWL-FM.
