OriolesHearst’s 50-kW news-talker in Baltimore has renewed the Orioles for another two seasons, says The Baltimore Sun. Joe Angel and Fred Manfra, who have called Orioles radio broadcasts together since 2004, will also return, said the story. A previous three-year deal with WBAL expired at the end of this season. A formal announcement is not expected from the team or the station.

2014 will be the 45th season that WBAL has been the radio home of the club during its 60-year run in Baltimore.

WBAL’s partnership with the Orioles ran from 1957 to 1978 and from 1988 to 2006. Orioles broadcasts returned to WBAL in 2011 following a four-year deal with CBS Radio’s 105.7 The Fan.

The station will continue its regular Orioles gameday programming, which includes pregame and postgame shows. Along with the entire 162-game regular season schedule, WBAL will also air 16 spring training games this season, including the Orioles’ spring opening opener 2/28 against the Tampa Bay Rays in Port Charlotte, FL.
