Artistic Media Partners’ WDND-AM 1620 (previously on 1490) has dropped its affiliation with ESPN a few weeks ago, after both sides were unable to reach a contract extension. For now Artistic Media Partners President Arthur Angotti is simulcasting WNDV 92.9 FM, the company’s CHR station.
He told the South Bend Tribune the format change is only temporary but the new format for WDND is yet to be determined. He said there’s no timeline in place, he’s interested in creating something new for the area: “We’re trying not to make a decision in haste.”
Instead, he’s hoping that listeners of 1620 AM — as well as others in the area — let him know what kind of radio station format the area needs. Although most AM stations have given up on music formats, Angotti said they’re not ruling anything out. “We’ve taken a lot of calls from people wanting to know what happened,” Angotti told the paper, “and they’ve had some interesting ideas.”
