One week after Power Country, Inc’s trio of stations in northern Florida went dark, Newman Media flipped 1340 WDSR/97.1 W246BY Lake City to Country. Now branded as “The Falcon”, the former Oldies station is taking advantage of the opening left by the demise of Power Country, reports The Lake City Journal. The change comes eight days after WQLC-FM PowerCountry-102, ceased broadcasting. Scott Savage, GM of WQLC, said he plans to revise the format and return in the fall.

John Newman, owner of WDSR, reports the next step is to move the station frequency to 95.5 FM and increase the power three-fold.  A new transmitter and other equipment will be delivered and installed in about 40 days to significantly increase the reach of The Falcon.

The station is featuring Keith Whitley, Alan Jackson, Reba and Tim McGraw on Saturday, 7/20, their first full day of country music programming.
