The question now is whether anyone stepped up to the plate to offer five billion bucks for The Weather Channel and its weather.com website. The Wall Street rumor mill had been saying that bids were likely to be more in the four billion area – but that could have just been potential buyers trying to talk down the price. NBC Universal, CBS Corporation, Comcast and Time Warner are said to be among the nearly two-dozen firms that indicated an interest in bidding.
