Entercom New England’s WEEI announced a sponsorship agreement between Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield and New Hampshire-based Irving Oil. As part of the deal, Wakefield will voice the company’s commercials that will air on Red Sox Radio, provide autographed merchandise for the promotion, and provide a unique contest experience, which will include a grand prize package with the pitcher.

As part of the Irving Oil’s popular “Cruisin’ to Win” contest, consumers will have the chance to win hundreds of different prizes, including free gas for life, ipods and Nintendo Wiis. The grand prize will be a once-in-a-lifetime Tim Wakefield Pitching Clinic Experience, which will include tickets to a game for eight people, a tour of the ballpark, and personalized gift bags from Wakefield.  Fans can find out how to enter online at www.irvingoil.com, or go into any of their locations throughout New England.

A six-time nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award, presented annually to the major leaguer who best combines baseball skills with devoted work in the community, Wakefield has dedicated much of his off-field efforts to the Franciscan Hospital for Children in Boston and the Space Coast Early Intervention Center in his hometown of Melbourne, FL. He is also a consistent supporter of the Jimmy Fund and countless other local charitable organizations.
