Week 17: Fox success is animated

Homer’s still got it! After more than two decades on the air, THE Simpsons managed to best tough competition – including “Modern Family,” “Big Bang Theory” and The Golden Globes – to claim last week’s entertainment ratings crown among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens.  Family Guy and the series debut of Napoleon Dynamite also ranked among the week’s top 5 regular programs in the core adult demo, and together with THE Simpsons dominated the top three slots among Adults 18-34 and Teens.
 
Averaging a 3.2/8 among Adults 18-49, FOX ranked second last week in the core demo but won the week among Adults 18-34 and Teens, thanks to its Sunday animated comedies, a strong return by Bones and the series premiere of new drama The Finder.
 
In addition, excluding sports and specials, FOX had:

With a full slate of animated comedy originals, including the series premiere of Napoleon Dynamite, FOX won the night among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers and posted its highest-rated Sunday night (excluding nights of all sports) in four years among Adults 18-49 (since 1/13/08.)
At 8:12pm, THE Simpsons delivered a 5.4/13, posting its highest A18-49 rating and Total Viewers (11.5 Mil.) in one year since 1/9/2011. THE Simpsons was the highest rated entertainment program of the week among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34, beating Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory and The Golden Globes. The series premiere of Napoleon Dynamite (4.4/10) followed at 8:42pm. Napoleon Dynamite is the third-highest comedy debut this season (behind 2 Broke Girls and New Girl).
 
Family Guy posted a 4.4/10 and delivered its highest A18-49 rating and Total Viewers (8.3 Mil.) in one year since 1/9/2011. A second telecast of Napoleon Dynamite at 9:42pm closed the night with a 3.3/8.
