Week 18: CBS celebrates Big Bang beating Idol

A rebroadcast of NCIS delivered more than 13 million viewers, more than any scripted program on the competition, the 100th episode of THE BIG BANG THEORY topped “American Idol” in adults 18-49 and ROB retained 85% of its premiere in viewers and adults 18-49, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Jan. 22, Week 18 of the 2011-2012 season.


 THE BIG BANG THEORY was also the week’s top scripted series in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, while PERSON OF INTEREST matched series highs in key demographics.

 For the week in viewers:  CBS (9.31m),  FOX with the NFC Championship Game (21.25m), ABC (6.67m) and NBC (5.78m).  Season-to-date:  CBS (12.18m), FOX (9.10m), ABC (8.51m) and NBC (7.34m). 

       For the week in key demographics, CBS was second in adults 25-54 (2.9/07) and tied for second adults 18-49 (2.1/05, with ABC).  Season-to-date, CBS is first in adults 25-54 (4.1/10) and second in adults 18-49 (3.2/09, -0.1 behind FOX).  Season-to-date, CBS is up +4% in households, +1% in viewers, +3% in adults 18-49 and even in adults 25-54.

       For the week in households:  CBS (5.9/09), FOX (11.6/18), ABC (4.2/07) and NBC (3.7/06).  Season-to-date: CBS (7.6/12), ABC and FOX (5.4/09, each) and NBC (4.6/07).

       — On Monday, CBS was first in households (6.8/10), viewers (11.19m), adults 25-54 (4.8/11) and adults 18-49 (3.8/09). 

       ? HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (6.1/9, 10.08m) was first in adults 25-54 (5.0/11), adults 18-49 (4.4/11) and adults 18-34 (3.8/11).  Compared to the last first-run episode (on Jan. 2, 2012), HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER was up +6% in adults 25-54 (from 4.7/10), +13% in adults 18-49 (from 3.9/09), +12% in adults 18-34 (from 3.4/10), even in households. 

       ? 2 BROKE GIRLS was first in adults 25-54 (5.5/12), adults 18-49 (4.6/11), adults 18-34 (3.4/09), and second in both households (6.8/10) and viewers (11.40m).  2 BROKE GIRLS built on its lead-in by +11% in households, +10% in adults 25-54, +5% in adults 18-49 and added +1.32m viewers (+13%).   Compared to the last first-run episode (on Jan. 2, 2012), 2 BROKE GIRLS was up +2% in adults 25-54 (from 5.4/11), +5% in adults 18-49 (from 4.4/10) and +3% in adults 18-34 (from 3.3/09).

       ? TWO AND A HALF MEN (9:00-9:31 PM) was first in adults 25-54 (5.9/12), adults 18-49 (4.6/11), adults 18-34 (3.0/08), and second in both households (7.8/11) and viewers (13.02m).  Compared to the last first-run episode (on Jan. 2, 2012), TWO AND A HALF MEN was up +2% in both adults 25-54 (from 5.8/12) and adults 18-49 (from 4.5/10), and +7% in adults 18-34 (from 2.8/08).

       ? MIKE & MOLLY (9:31-10:00 PM) was first in adults 25-54 (5.1/10), adults 18-49 (3.8/09), and second in households (6.8/10) and viewers (11.09m).  Compared to the last first-run episode (on Jan. 2, 2012), MIKE & MOLLY was up +2% in adults 25-54 (from 5.0/10), even in adults 18-49.  

       ? HAWAII FIVE-0 was first in households (6.6/11), viewers (10.73m), adults 25-54 (3.8/09) and adults 18-49 (2.8/07). 

       — On Tuesday, CBS was first in households (6.4/10) and viewers (10.03m).  CBS won its 17th Tuesday in 18 weeks in viewers.    

       ? NCIS (R) was first in households (8.2/13), viewers (13.23m) and adults 25-54 (3.3/08).  A rebroadcast of NCIS was the night’s #1 program in viewers.    

       ? NCIS: LOS ANGELES (R) was first in households (6.1/09) and viewers (9.40m). 

       ? CRIMINAL MINDS was second in households (8.1/12) and viewers (13.00m).

       ? CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION won its hour in households (7.5/12), viewers (12.02m), adults 25-54 (3.8/09) and adults 18-49 (2.8/07).  

       — On Thursday, CBS was first in households (8.5/13) and viewers (14.11m), tied for first in adults 25-54 (4.8/11, with FOX) and was second in adults 18-49 (3.5/09).  

       ? THE BIG BANG THEORY (9.3/15, 15.84m) was first in adults 25-54 (6.8/17), adults 18-49 (5.3/15) and tied for first in adults 18-34 (3.8/12, with FOX).  THE BIG BANG THEORY posted its best-ever deliveries in households, viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 against an episode of “American Idol.”   
 
       ? ROB was second in households (6.9/10), viewers (11.41m), adults 25-54 (4.6/10) and adults 18-49 (3.5/09).  Compared to last week’s series premiere, ROB retained 88% of its households delivery (from 7.8/12), 85% each in viewers (from 13.47m), adults 25-54 (from 5.4/13) and adults 18-49 (from 4.1/11).  

       ? PERSON OF INTEREST was first in households (8.7/13), viewers (14.40m), adults 25-54 (4.5/10) and second in adults 18-49 (3.2/08).  PERSON OF INTEREST matched series-high adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 ratings and scored its second-best viewer performance.    

       ? THE MENTALIST was first in households (8.8/14), viewers (14.22m), adults 25-54 (4.1/10) and adults 18-49 (3.0/08).  Compared to last week, THE MENTALIST was up +4% in households (from 8.5/14), +8% in adults 25-54 (from 3.8/09), +11% in adults 18-49 (from 2.7/07) and added +570,000 viewers (from 13.65m, +4%).  THE MENTALIST beat NBC and ABC combined in viewers (vs. 9.42m, +51%), adults 25-54 (vs. 3.8/10, +8%) and tied NBC and ABC combined in adults 18-49 (vs. 3.0/07).
