Week 20: DVR Playback winner is ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy'

ABC’s  “Grey’s Anatomy” topped the chart as the #1 actual DVR Adult 18-49 gainer from the first-reported numbers to the playback finals, adding on 1.4 rating points to its initial number (+33% – 4.3 rating to a 5.7 rating).


As a result of DVR playback, “Grey’s Anatomy” emerged as TV’s #1 scripted show for the week in Adults 18-49 (5.7), leapfrogging over CBS’ “NCIS” (5.4) to top Nielsen’s final rankings. 

Initially in the Live + Same Day statistics, “NCIS” was the top-rated scripted show for the week, by a margin of 3-tenths of a rating point.

“Grey’s Anatomy” was also the week’s biggest overall Total Viewer gainer, picking up 2.9 million viewers (11.2 million to 14.1 million) from the first-reported overnight numbers.

Season-to-Date DVR Playback (9/20/10-2/6/11):
This season, ABC airs TV’s Top 2 biggest actual Adult 18-49 gainers, with “Modern Family” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”  On average, “Modern Family” picks up 1.5 rating points from the originally-reported numbers to the finalized DVR playback numbers, and “Grey’s Anatomy” gains an additional 1.4 rating points over its initial number.

 ABC’s “Modern Family” and “Grey’s Anatomy” are also TV’s Top 2 highest-rated scripted series overall for the season in the key young adult sales demo.
