Univision Finished as the #3 Broadcast Network in Primetime among all Adults 18-34, Out-Delivering ABC, NBC and CW.


Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of March 21, 2011 to March 27, 2011

For the entire week, Univision was the #3 broadcast network in primetime, out-delivering ABC, NBC and CW with 1.2 million Adult 18-34 viewers and finished as the fifth most-watched network among Adults 18-49 (2.1 million) and Total Viewers 2+ (4.0 million).

Last week, Univision experienced the highest year-to-year audience growth of any broadcast network in primetime compared to the same week in 2010 among Total Viewers 2+ (+28%), Adults 18-49 (+31%) and Adults 18-34 (+38%).

Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-Language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of seven nights last week among all Adults 18-34 and on five out of seven nights among all Adults 18-49.

On Friday night, Univision ranked as the #2 broadcast network (behind CBS) among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. Its novelas were among the top 5 most-watched programs on all of broadcast television on this night with #3 “Triunfo del Amor” (Triumph of Love) and #4 “Eva Luna” across these two demographic groups.

Univision’s primetime novelas, “Eva Luna” and “Triunfo del Amor” (Triumph of Love) delivered more Adult 18-34 viewers than the original airings of ABC’s “Mr. Sunshine,” “No Ordinary Family,” “Off The Map,” “Private Practice” and “The Middle;” CBS’ “Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “Mad Love,” “Mike & Molly,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,”  “Survivor: Redemption Island” and “The Good Wife;” NBC’s “30 Rock,” “Chuck,” “Community,” “Harry’s Law,” “Outsourced,” “Perfect Couples” and “The Event;” FOX’s “Chicago Code,” “Fringe,” “Kitchen Nightmares” and “Traffic Light;” and CW’s “America’s Next Top Model-10” and “Shedding For Wedding.” The novelas also positioned Univision as the third and second highest-rated broadcast network in the respective weeknight hours of 8pm to 9pm and 9pm to 11pm with 1.4 million Adult 18-34 viewers.

Last week, Univision’s “Triunfo del Amor” (Triumph of Love) delivered its highest weekly audience levels since its debut on 01/03/2011 among Adults 18-49 (2.5 million) and Adults 18-34 (1.4 million) and second-highest with 4.7 million Viewers 2+.

On Saturday night, Univision’s live coverage of the soccer match between “Argentina and the United States” as well as “Sabado Gigante” (Giant Saturday) made it the fourth most-watched broadcast network among Adults 18-49 (1.2 million) with a +25% audience advantage over NBC.

The fourth telecast of the fifth season of Univision’s “Nuestra Belleza Latina” (Our Latin Beauty), which featured the selection of the twelve finalists as well as a musical performance from reggaeton duo, Rakim y Ken Y, attracted 3.1 million Total Viewers 2+ and 1.6 million Adults 18-49 including more Adult 18-34 (854,000) viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “America’s Funniest Home Videos” and NBC’s “America’s Next Great Restaurant” on Sunday night.

Univision’s Sunday night airing of “Sal y Pimienta” (Salt & Pepper) generated strong week-to-week audience increases among all Viewers 2+ (+13% to 2.8 million) including Adults 18-49 (+8% to 1.4 million) and Adults 18-34 (+13% to 661,000) and helped Univision capture the #3 network ranking, out-performing ABC in the 10pm to 11pm hour among both Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
