Week 28: Univision No. 4 network in primetime

Univision ranked as the fourth most-watched broadcast network for the entire week in primetime among all Adults 18-49 (2.0 million) and Adults 18-34 (1.1 million), out-delivering NBC and CW and maintained its fifth-ranked network position with nearly 4.0 million Total Viewers 2+.


Univision was the #1 broadcast network on Friday in primetime among both Adults 18-49 (2.1 million) and Adults 18-34 (1.2 million) and had the top 3 most-watched programs on all of broadcast television with #1 “Teresa,” #2 “Eva Luna” and #3 “Triunfo del Amor” among all Adults 18-34.

Last week, Univision generated the highest primetime audience growth of any broadcast network compared to the same week a year ago among all Viewers 2+ (+26%), Adults 18-49 (+28%) and Adults 18-34 (+34%).

Univision also out-delivered one or more of the English-Language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on five out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-49 and on six out of seven nights among Adults 18-34.

On Wednesday night, the novela debut of “Teresa” attracted 4.9 million viewers and positioned Univision as the second and third most-watched network in the 9pm to 10pm hour among Adults 18-34 (1.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.7 million), respectively.

“Teresa” also ranked as the second highest-rated program on all of television, behind FOX’s “American Idol” among Adults 18-34 and helped Univision capture the #3 network ranking on Wednesday night, out-delivering ABC, NBC and CW among all Adults 18-49.

On every single weeknight last week, Univision’s “Eva Luna” finished within the top 10 most-watched programs on broadcast television, delivering more Adults 18-34 than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Body of Proof,” “Mr. Sunshine,” “Off The Map” and “Private Practice;” CBS’ “Blue Bloods,” “Chaos,” “Criminal Minds,” “Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior,” “CSI,” “CSI: NY,” “The Good Wife,” “Mad Love,” “The Mentalist,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Rules of Engagement” and “Survivor: Redemption Island;” NBC’s “Biggest Loser 11,” “The Event,” “Harry’s Law,” “Law and Order: SVU,” “Parenthood” and “Perfect Couples;” FOX’s “Traffic Light;” and CW’s “America’s Next Top Model-10” and “Shedding for the Wedding.” The novela also made Univision the #2 broadcast network in the Monday through Friday 8pm to 9pm hour, out-delivering ABC, CBS, NBC and CW with 1.4 million Adult 18-34 viewers.

Univision’s “Triunfo Del Amor” (Triumph of Love) delivered its second highest weekly audience levels since its premiere on 01/03/2011 with 2.4 million Adult 18-49 viewers and out-performed such English-Language primetime programs as ABC’s “Mr. Sunshine” and “Off The Map;” CBS’ “Blue Bloods,” “Chaos” and “CSI: NY;” NBC’s “The Event,” “Harry’s Law” and “Perfect Couples;” FOX’s “Traffic Light” and CW’s “America’s Next Top Model-10” and “Shedding for the Wedding” in this key demographic group.

“Sabado Gigante” (Giant Saturday) positioned Univision as the #4 broadcast network among all Adult 18-34 viewers (448,000) with a +69% audience advantage over NBC on Saturday night.

Sunday night’s two-hour airing of the fifth episode of Univision’s “Nuestra Belleza Latina” (Our Latin Beauty), which featured a musical performance from Lucero as well as the first elimination, achieved its highest audience levels in its current fifth installment with 3.3 million Total Viewers 2+ and delivered significantly more Adults 18-49 (+13%) and Adult 18-34 (+21%) viewers than the comparable telecast from the previous season.
