Westwood One Honored Among Global NYF Radio Awards Winners

A global crisis could not prevent the Radio Awards Grand Jury from their commitment to judging world-class work in the field of audio.


Compelling podcasts and audiobooks, dramas, documentaries, breaking news coverage entertainment and music specials created by storytellers around the globe impressed judges as the New York Festivals Radio Awards revealed on Tuesday its Storytellers Gala award winners.

Among the U.S. entities honored: Cumulus Media-owned Westwood One.

Documentaries captivated listeners showcasing engaging stories and diverse points of view, and Gold trophy winners include Westwood One’s “1939: America on the Eve of War.”

Also honored:  “Escape From Iran” from Australia’s ABC National Radio and “Journey to Jazz And Human Rights” from CJRT-FM 91.1 in Toronto, Canada’s foremost Jazz station.

News, Investigative Reports and Talk/Interview Gold trophy winners also include Westwood One, for its coverage of the August 2019 El Paso and Dayton mass shootings.
