WestwoodOneSports.com debuts

The network radio home of the NFL, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and the Final Four, unveiled www.WestwoodOneSports.com, a destination for sports fans to find exclusive radio content. The site offers up pregame interviews with coaches and players and exclusive online commentary from Westwood One broadcasters, including Boomer Esiason, Jim Gray, James Lofton, Terry Donahue, Eddie George, Mark Malone, Tony Boselli and more. Twitter updates are present as well, along with three home page ad positions. Affiliate lists are present and click-thru stories share the same ad template as the home page.

It also has broadcast schedules, announcer bios and a station finder to help fans locate local stations airing Westwood One Sports broadcasts. Weekly features include Tom Brady’s Monday Night Football pre-game conversation with Jim Gray, 1995 Heisman Trophy-winner Eddie George’s “Heisman Watch,” Hall of Fame wide receiver James Lofton’s interview with a fellow Pro Football Hall of Famer on “Legend to Legend,” and College Football Hall of Famer Terry Donahue’s coach’s perspective on NCAA Football in “T.D.’s Extra Point.”

RBR-TVBR observation: Westwood One carries so much sports that a destination for all of it–similar to ESPN.com–seems like a no-brainer. It’s just one more way for the network/syndicator to reach out to its radio audience and allow them to participate from one destination. The only thing missing is a Facebook integration or presence, but hey, it just launched!
