WFAN searching for new talent

CBS Radio’s Sports machine WFAN-AM NY is launching its “Fantasy Phenom II Challenge” at Menlo Park Mall in Edison, N.J. 10:00AM Saturday 6/4.  Participants will have an opportunity to earn an on-air shift. Those that pass the initial pre-screening phase will audition in front of a panel of judges.  A number of participants will move on to round two, where the final five will be determined.

These individuals will compete for the ultimate prize at Mike Francesa’s “End of Summer” beach party and radio show broadcast live on-air and online at wfan.com from Bar A in Lake Como, N.J. on 8/19.

“We were excited to get so many great contestants last year and we look forward to the screening process for Fantasy Phenom year two as we look for someone to win our grand prize of a weekly air shift on WFAN,” says Vice President of Programming, CBS Radio New York and WFAN Ops Manager, Mark Chernoff.

WFAN will also be searching for talent:
Friday, June 10 at Roosevelt Field Mall begins 12:00 Noon
Saturday, June 18 at The Westchester Mall begins 10:00AM
Friday, June 24 at The Livingston Mall begins at 12:00 Noon

Last year’s winner, Greg Sussman, remains with the station broadcasting his show to tri-state area listeners.

RBR-TVBR observation: What better way to find a diamond in the rough that’s almost guaranteed to appeal to a wide range of listeners? This really gets fans of the station and potential fans involved and lets them feel like they’re not only welcomed to try out for the team, but help decide the process by cheering on those auditioning.
