CBS Radio’s Sports talker WFAN-AM NY launched its “Fantasy Phenom II Challenge” on 6/4. Participants get an opportunity to host a weekly show on the station for one year. Those that passed an initial pre-screening auditioned in front of a panel of judges at four area malls.  A number of participants moved on to round two, where the final five were determined.

This year’s five finalists were chosen from over 2,000 fans and loyal listeners who showed up at the auditions or submitted videos online:

1.       John Jastremski from Staten Island
2.       Patrick Creighton from Bethpage, New York
3.       Patrick Totaro from Brick, New Jersey
4.       Mike McMaster from Basking Ridge, New Jersey
5.       Neeraj Joshi from New York City

The opening round of candidates was narrowed down to 50 semi-finalists and eventually to the five finalists. They’ll compete for the ultimate prize at Mike Francesa’s “End of Summer” beach party and radio show broadcast live on-air and online at wfan.com from Bar A in Lake Como, N.J. on 8/19. A panel of judges, plus listeners on-line (wfan.com) and text votes will determine the Grand Prize winner.  Additionally, a number of sports celebrities will appear at the Bar A broadcast to be interviewed by the contestants.  Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes will provide live music throughout the afternoon.

The event will be broadcast live on the Mike Francesa program between 1:00-6:30 pm, on-air, streaming online at www.wfan.com, through mobile devices and simulcast on the YES television network.
