What key issues facing Capitol Hill and the FCC should be of the greatest concern and interest to Hispanic broadcasters? Find out without having to deal with Beltway traffic or a visit to the Nation’s Capital.

A great learning opportunity is planned for June 23 in Miami, as the second day of the annual Hispanic Radio Conference is staged.

The event, scheduled for June 22-23 at the Intercontinental at Doral Miami, includes  an already announced Keynote Interview with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

Following that address, a D.C. Update session scheduled for 9:40am will commence. The moderator: esteemed Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth attorney Francisco Montero.

He comments, “The past year has been quite a ride in Washington for broadcasters … a new FCC Chairwoman, another controversial appointee held up in confirmation, a new NAB CEO, and pandemic restrictions slowly lifting while Congress considers legislation for a new minority tax certificate legislation, federal marijuana decriminalization, and midterm elections.”

Meanwhile, Montero adds, the FCC has been ramping up enforcement on a variety of fronts including EEO audits, foreign programming, political consent decrees, FCC license renewals, and public file compliance. “And has anyone heard a peep on radio multiple ownership relaxation lately?” he asks. “Now more than ever broadcasters need to know what is going on, and for that we have an outstanding panel of experts to discuss the latest from Washington and industry, and how it will all impact Hispanic broadcasters across the country.”

Joining as panelists are Tomás Martinez, CEO of Solmart Media; Jay Meyers, President/CEO of Broadcast Management & Technology; and Christopher Wood, SVP/Associate General Counsel at TelevisaUnivision.
