When Must Radio Start Using Online Public File?

1

FilesRadio owners must begin using the FCC’s online public file database on June 24.

Initially, the requirement applies to commercial radio in the top 50 Nielsen Audio markets with 5 or more full-time employees. Satellite radio, cable systems with 1,000 or more subscribers, and DBS providers must comply by that date as well.

As of June 24, radio and the other businesses the rule now applies to must begin uploading new documents to the commission-hosted and maintained Website. They have an additional six months to upload existing public file documents, meaning by Dec. 24.

NCE radio stations, commercial radio stations in the top 50 Nielsen Audio markets with fewer than five full-time employees, and all commercial radio stations in markets below the top 50 or outside all markets have until March 1, 2018 to place public file materials in the online public file.

They don’t need to place existing political file material into the online public file, just new documents.
