The ABC New Year’s Bash Tops Every Other Primetime Entertainment  TV Program During the Week in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49

“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010 – Part 1” Sees Year-to-year Increases in Total Viewers and Teens 12-17
 
“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010 – Part 2” Delivers its Largest Audience in 8 Years and Best Adults 18-49 in 7 Years

“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010 – Part 1” (11:30 p.m. -12:33 a.m.):

ABC’s annual broadcast of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010 – Part 1” attracted an average audience of 17.67 million Total Viewers and 8.12 million Adults 18-49 (6.2/22). 
 
Versus other network New Year’s Eve specials, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010 – Part 1” outdelivered the combined audiences of:

NBC’s “New Year’s Eve w/Carson Daly” and Fox’s “New Year’s Eve – Times Square ‘09” by 26% in Total Viewers (17.67 vs. 14.01 million –

NBC and Fox combined) and 20% in Adults 18-49 (8.12 vs. 6.79 million).

The top New Year’s Eve program on cable, Fox News Channel’s “Fox’s All American New Years” in Total Viewers (2.12 million viewers from 12:00-12:30 a.m.) and BET’s “106 & Party” in Adults 18-49 (822,000 from 11:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m.) drew just a small fraction of the audience of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010 – Part 1.” 

Compared to all primetime TV programs for the week (week of December 28, 2009), “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010 – Part 1” ranked No. 1 in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.

“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010 – Part 1” was up over the previous year in Total Viewers (17.67 vs. 17.61 million) and Teens 12-17 (4.9/18 vs. 4.7/18).      

“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest – Part 2” (1:08-2:05 a.m.):

Despite the late time period, the second segment of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest – Part 2” attracted 6.10 million Total Viewers on average and 3.04 million Adults 18-49.   Posting year-to-year increases for the 2nd year in a row, the segment was up by 13% in viewers and 6% in Adults 18-49 over the previous year (Last year = 5.42 viewers and 2.88 million). 

In fact, the second segment posted it largest audience in 8 years and biggest Adults 18-49 audience in 7 years – since 2001 and 2002, respectively.
