The Executive News Director for the TEGNA-owned ABC affiliate serving the Tidewater region of Virginia has been promoted to President/GM. He’s been at WVEC-TV since 2003, when he joined as a senior producer for the evening newscasts.
Taking the top role at WVEC-13 is Doug Wieder.
A station veteran, Wieder served as executive producer of the evening newscasts from 2007 until his most recent promotion.
It’s an achievement Wieder thanks, in part, to his participation in the TEGNA Executive Leadership Program.
Prior to joining TEGNA, he worked as a reporter, anchor and producer at television stations in Richmond; Chattanooga, Tenn., and Macon, Ga.
