Windy AM hopes to start a Blag

Yes, that’s Blag, not blog – and Citadel’s WLS-AM Chicago isn’t so much looking for a hot new show as it is doing what it considers to be a public service. The station is offering scandal-plagued Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich his own radio show, which would air Sundays 12N-2PM. The only stipulation is that he quit his day job. Noting that the citizens of the state would like to see him resign, witness a sub-10% approval rating, WLS figures the change in career would be a public service to the state, in particular allowing it to avoid going through a messy impeachment process.

“A talk show hosted by Governor Blagojevich would be widely popular,” said PD Bob Shomper. “In spite of his low approval ratings, people want to hear what he has to say.”

RBR/TVBR observation: This isn’t the usual way a station goes about gaining public interest brownie points but hey – whatever works.
